Hiring week
It’s time for another update! This time I don’t have any big learnings, other than “writing a game is hard” and “don’t try this at home!”.
I’ve been focusing on the weekly actions, which needed a team to do the actions, which needed you to be able to hire people, so I ended up working a bit on the weekly actions screen, the roster and finally the hiring screen. None of this is final, but this being a jam, it will probably end up in that magical “so bad it’s good, or it’d better be” state.
Currently my colors (well, and my pixels…) are all over the place and don’t follow any restrictions, but as I mentioned before I’d like to have a 256 color game. I have a few options to make it work inside Unity, but I’ll probably skip on any of them until the very end. If I don’t have the time, this will end up as a game supporting 640x480 x “I can’t believe it’s not 256 colors!” mode.
Next steps will be wiring all of this together, work on the market screen, Mech building/repairing screen, then finally make the simulation work.
After that, and if I ever had the time, I’d love to create proper art instead of the programmer art I’m using, but again, it will probably end up exactly as it is today.
I can’t wait to share this with everybody!
